Purpose: MacStim will present sounds/pictures on your Macintosh and was designed specifically for functional neuroimaging studies. Since its inception, it has found many other uses eg in psychological experiments, and we hope that you find it fulfils your specific requirements also.

Programming: most of MacStim was written in THINK Pascal 4 (various incarnations), with some in THINK C 6, and code resources from FaceWare (ViewIt esp). I can recommend FaceWare (or DynaFace as it's now called) to all programmers who wish to write their interface rapidly. If you are just trying MacStim out for the first time, then have a look at the example scripts provided in the Samples folder. Double click them, or open them using MacStim's Open... menu item (main File menu). Click the Go button to run them. Then read this help information to work out what happened!
